Man Offers Panhandler Honest Work But Gets Turned Down, So He Makes A Sign Of His Own
Ryan Bray, a compassionate man, often seeks to help those in need. One Sunday, while returning from work, he encountered a panhandler on the street and decided to offer him a job in his family business at $15 per hour. To Bray’s surprise, the man rejected the offer, preferring to continue begging, as he felt he could earn more that way.
Offended by the beggar’s response, Bray took action. He created a sign criticizing the panhandler for his lack of ambition and returned to the street corner to publicly condemn his behavior. Although generally kind-hearted, Bray felt it necessary to make a point about personal responsibility.
The homeless man, who chose to remain anonymous, later claimed that Bray had lied about the job offer and simply wanted help to improve his situation. He argued that begging was a means to slowly escape his circumstances.
Despite this, Bray stood firm, holding his sign and urging others not to give money to beggars, believing that this would motivate them to leave the neighborhood. The incident, particularly the beggar’s request for money, only strengthened Bray’s resolve to change public attitudes toward panhandling.
