Gene Hackman and wife had been “dead for some time”, says warrant
Hollywood legend Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 63, were found dead in their Santa Fe, New Mexico home earlier this week.
Authorities believe they had been deceased for some time. Hackman’s daughter, Elizabeth, speculated that carbon monoxide poisoning may have been the cause, though the investigation is ongoing.

Hackman and Arakawa were found in separate rooms, with Hackman in a mudroom and Arakawa in a bathroom near a space heater. No signs of foul play were found.

Elizabeth described her father’s peaceful retirement, mentioning his love for painting after his 2004 retirement. The cause of death remains under investigation.
