Elvis Presley’s Luxurious Private Jet from 1962 Finds New Owner
Elvis Presley is renowned not only for his iconic music but also for his distinctive fashion sense and love of fine cuisine. Less known is his talent for interior design, exemplified by his personal jet.
In 1962, Elvis purchased a Lockheed Jetstar, customizing it with luxurious red velvet seats, rich carpets, and elegant wooden walls. He cherished this aircraft for over 35 years, but it was abandoned after his death in 1977. Elvis also owned a modified Convair 880 called the “Lisa Marie” and another JetStar, “Hound Dog 2.”
Recently, the Lockheed Jetstar, which sat in Roswell, New Mexico, for over 30 years, was auctioned for $260,000 at a Florida auction. Elvis flew on this plane with his father, Vernon. Despite the exterior’s faded red paint, the interior remains charming, featuring plush seating, a modern TV, and a small kitchenette.
Imagine Elvis making his famous banana, peanut butter, mayonnaise, and bacon sandwich in the plane’s kitchenette! The luxurious restroom adds to the plane’s appeal, contrasting sharply with cramped commercial flights.
The aircraft’s auction on January 8th attracted bids but none were accepted. Share this with any Elvis fans you know!
