Susan Lucci shares health update after two grueling surgeries

Susan Lucci, known as ‘Daytime’s Leading Lady’ for her iconic role as Erica Kane on All My Children, has had a remarkable career. In 1996, she was ranked #37 on TV Guide’s list of 50 Greatest TV Stars. Lucci also appeared on VH1’s Top 200 Icons and Barbara Walters’s Ten Most Fascinating People.

In 2018, she underwent emergency heart surgery for severe artery blockages. After experiencing symptoms like shortness of breath and chest pressure, doctors discovered 90% blockage in her main artery. Lucci later had a second surgery, catching the issue early.

Dr. Richard Shlofmitz, her cardiologist, emphasized that if she hadn’t noticed the symptoms, it could have led to a heart attack. Tragically, in January 2022, her husband Helmut Huber passed away. This loss deeply affected her, but she remains determined to move forward.

Lucci now encourages other women to prioritize their health. “Listen to your heart and be your own advocate,” she advises. Grateful for her doctors, she is passionate about using her platform to raise awareness, having participated in the 2019 American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women event.
