Susan Dey’s life following the popular TV show “The Partridge Family” and her childhood romance on coworker David Cassidy
Susan Dey, best known for playing Laurie Partridge on The Partridge Family (1970-1974), was a newcomer to acting when she landed the role. Her natural talent made her a standout on the show, which followed a musical family traveling in a colorful school bus. The series became a hit, especially in the UK, and launched her co-star David Cassidy to teen idol status.
Susan had a long crush on David, and they eventually dated after the show ended, but their relationship didn’t last. David later revealed in his book that he ended things because he found Susan too naive, which deeply upset her. She vowed never to speak to him again, even skipping a reunion years later.
After The Partridge Family, Susan found success in TV and film, earning six Golden Globe and three Emmy nominations, and winning a Golden Globe for her role in LA Law. She also turned down the role of Sandy in Grease, which went to Olivia Newton-John.
Today, Susan lives a quiet life in New York with her family, away from the spotlight. While she’s no longer in the public eye, she remains a memorable figure for her role in The Partridge Family.
