Old Man Goes to Visit Daughter for His 80th Birthday, She Doesn’t Let Him Enter Her House
After my wife’s death, I didn’t see my daughter much, but we talked daily. On my 80th birthday, I decided to surprise her by driving over.
When I arrived, she seemed nervous and said, “Dad, what are you here for?” I smiled, wanting to spend time with her, but she insisted I leave, saying, “I’m really busy today.”
Confused and heartbroken, I turned to go but then heard muffled noises inside. Peeking through the window, I saw two young children playing. I knocked again, and my daughter opened the door, looking pale.
“Who are those children, Sarah?” I asked. With tears in her eyes, she revealed, “They’re your grandchildren. After Mom died, I found out I was pregnant, but I was scared to tell you.”
A mix of shock and joy flooded over me. “Why would you keep this from me? I’ve missed so much.”
She hugged me tightly, sobbing, “I didn’t want to burden you.” I reassured her, “You’re never a burden, Sarah. Family is everything.”
We spent the day together, connecting and getting to know my grandchildren. As the sun set, I sat with my daughter, grateful for this unexpected gift. “Thank you for this, Sarah. It’s the best birthday ever.”
In that moment, I knew we had found our way back to each other, and that was all that mattered.
