Meet Julia Hawkins The 107-Year-Old Hurricane Breaking Records.
Julia Hawkins, known as “the Hurricane,” continues to impress at 107 years old. She set a world record for the fastest 100-meter run at the Louisiana Senior Games, having only taken up running at age 100, encouraged by her children. At the 2021 games, despite cold and windy conditions, she completed the race in just over 62 seconds, earning the title for the fastest 100-meter dash in her age category.
A retired teacher, Julia’s former students, now in their 90s, cheered her on, reflecting her lasting impact. Beyond running, she enjoys gardening and spending time with her family, including children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Julia fondly remembers her late husband, Murray, with whom she shared a 70-year marriage that began over the phone while he was in Pearl Harbor.
She encourages others to cherish “magic moments” in life, such as sunrises and shooting stars, emphasizing the importance of appreciating these experiences regardless of wealth or status.
