With heavy hearts, we announce the passing. When you find out who she is, you will cry
As I held Deborah’s hand during her last moments, I felt both sadness and relief. My beautiful girl was gone, free from her pain. Being a mom to a deceased child is a heavy burden, and tomorrow will be especially hard.
Even though one of my children has died, I will always be a mom of three. Today, my thoughts are with my grandchildren, Hugo and Eloise, who have lost their wonderful mother. They can’t send her a card or receive a hug from her anymore. All I can do is love them and support them.
Five and a half years after her bowel cancer diagnosis, my daughter Dame Deborah James passed away at 40. It’s still hard to grasp that she’s gone. Deborah was diagnosed in December 2016, when she was a healthy 35-year-old mother of two. Initially misdiagnosed with stress or IBS, it was shocking to learn her cancer was in its fourth stage.
Despite the odds, Deborah was brave and determined. She wanted to fight her illness not just for herself but also to help others.
