A farmer uses a hot tub to rescue the life of a newborn calf that is frozen in the snow.»
In cold weather, animals can suffer from hypothermia and frostbite, prompting compassionate efforts to keep them warm. In 2015, Dean Gangwer, a farmer from Rossville, Indiana, found a newborn calf, Leroy, lying in the snow. Realizing the calf needed urgent help, he took it to his house and used his hot tub as a makeshift bath. Dean got in fully clothed to hold Leroy, and after an hour, both emerged warm. Once Leroy’s body temperature stabilized, he was wrapped in blankets and returned to the herd. Dean humorously noted that while Leroy’s hot-tubbing days were over, he might enjoy sunbathing in the grass.
