10 Years After Robin Williams Died, His Friend Billy Connolly Talked About The Actor’s Sad Last Words
Survivors of Robin Williams’ untimely death continue to mourn the beloved actor, with a close friend recently sharing his poignant final words. Williams, known for his powerful performances in films like “Good Morning, Vietnam” and “Good Will Hunting,” won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Despite his successful career, Williams battled personal demons, including alcoholism. In 2014, he entered a recovery program not due to relapse, but to strengthen his commitment to sobriety. In an interview with Diane Sawyer, he discussed the challenges of addiction, revealing the constant temptation he faced.
Williams had previously struggled with cocaine addiction but maintained twenty years of sobriety until his relapse. He understood that addiction could resurface unexpectedly, even when things seemed fine.
Tragically, Williams died on August 11, 2014, at age 63, in what appeared to be a suicide. Prior to his passing, he had been struggling with severe depression and was later found to have Lewy body dementia, a condition that significantly affected his quality of life.
His widow, Susan Schneider, revealed that this illness contributed to his suffering, stating, “Finding out about LBD was like discovering the name of my husband’s killer.”
As the tenth anniversary of his passing approaches, friends like Sir Billy Connolly remember the deep bond they shared, highlighting the joy Williams brought to their lives.
