Twin babies, who died alongside their mom, believed to be youngest Hurricane Helene victims
As of Tuesday, Hurricane Helene has claimed over 230 lives across six states, with many still missing. Among the victims are five-week-old twins Khyzier and Khazmir Williams, who died alongside their mother, Kobe Williams, when a tree crashed into their mobile home in Thomson, Georgia.
Kobe’s mother, Mary Jones, recounted how they had underestimated the storm’s severity. After a night of fear and anxiety, Jones fell asleep, only to be awakened by the sound of the tree falling. Neighbors rushed to help, but the debris was too thick. Tragically, authorities confirmed the worst: all three had perished.
Jones described her daughter trying to protect the twins when the tree fell. Hurricane Helene is now recognized as the deadliest hurricane to hit the mainland U.S. since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. As recovery efforts continue, residents are also preparing for Hurricane Milton, which is heading toward the Tampa Bay Area.
