Dolly Parton releases emotional song for late husband
Dolly Parton, a legend in country music, is mourning the loss of her husband of 58 years, Carl Thomas Dean, who passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 82. To honor him, Dolly released a heartfelt song titled “If You Hadn’t Been There.” In her tribute, she shared a picture of the couple and wrote about their enduring love story, starting when she was 18. The song expresses her gratitude for Carl’s love and support throughout their nearly 60 years together.
Dolly, 79, also shared a message on Instagram, thanking fans for their condolences and acknowledging Carl’s passing with love. The couple, who met at a Nashville laundromat, kept a private life, with Carl remaining mostly out of the spotlight. Dolly’s song and tribute reflect her deep love for Carl, as well as her recent tribute to her late uncle Billy Earl Owens in 2021.
