911 call connected to Gene Hackman’s death released

Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 65, were found dead at their Santa Fe, New Mexico home on Wednesday. No external trauma was found, and their deaths are under investigation.

Hackman’s family expressed their devastation, describing him as a beloved father and grandfather. The caretaker who made the 911 call described seeing two unconscious individuals.

Pills were found near Arakawa’s body, and a space heater was nearby. Hackman was found in another room, with no signs of forced entry.

The sheriff’s office is awaiting toxicology and autopsy results, including tests for carbon monoxide poisoning.

Hackman’s daughter, Leslie, noted that her father was in good health before his passing. Hackman, a Hollywood legend, had a remarkable career, winning two Academy Awards and starring in iconic films like The French Connection and Unforgiven.

He was married to Arakawa since 1991. Tributes poured in from Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman, remembering Hackman’s incredible talent.
