Shelter rescues neglected dog covered in three pounds of matted fur — he looks completely different after makeover

A severely neglected dog named Matt was rescued by the South Plains SPCA after being found covered in five years of matted fur. His condition was so bad that his fur was embedded into his skin, causing pain and severe bruising.

Despite the pain, the SPCA sedated him to remove three pounds of matted fur, along with debris like sticks and beetles. Matt also had long nails and was anemic but heartworm-free.

After grooming, Matt was a transformed, happy dog who went for his first walk in years. He is now recovering and will soon be up for adoption. What a heartwarming turnaround for Matt!
