Boy, 10, impaled shielding sister from plane crash

A 10-year-old boy, Andre “Trey” Howard III, became a national hero after shielding his younger sister from flying debris during a tragic plane crash near Northeast Philadelphia Airport on January 31, 2025.

The medical transport plane crashed, killing all six people on board and one on the ground. Trey, who suffered a severe head injury, saved his sister but was critically injured.

After emergency surgery, he woke up asking, “Did I save my sister?” His miraculous recovery has amazed doctors. The community has rallied around him, raising over $186,000 for his medical expenses.

The NTSB is investigating the cause of the crash, which may have been due to mechanical failure. Trey’s selfless act has inspired many, and people are calling for recognition of his bravery.
