Hollywood is a place where dreams can come true, but only a few manage to thrive. Tom Selleck is one such star, known for his long career, especially for his role as Thomas Magnum in Magnum, P.I., which earned him five Emmy nominations and one win in 1985.
Before his breakthrough, Selleck had minor roles and appeared on The Dating Game, which he found humiliating. He later joined Fox’s talent program but took a six-month military break. Upon returning, he was let go, yet he remained optimistic, stating, “The luckiest thing that happened was that I didn’t get a real job until I was thirty-five.”
Magnum P.I. came at a pivotal moment, and Selleck has continued to succeed, now co-starring in Blue Bloods as Frank Reagan, which is entering its thirteenth season. While he performs most of his stunts, the physical toll is evident; he mentioned, “My back’s kind of messed up.”
Selleck stays fit working on his ranch in Ventura, California, where he shares his passion for horses with his daughter.
