Patti Scialfa, Bruce Springsteen’s wife and E Street Band member, revealed she has been battling multiple myeloma since 2018. At the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Springsteen’s documentary, she explained that her diagnosis has made touring impossible due to its effects on her immune system. Scialfa has attended a few shows but primarily focuses on her solo work and spending time with her granddaughter, Lily, born in July 2022.
She noted that with many musicians on stage, she felt less essential to the band. Meanwhile, Springsteen has faced his own health challenges, postponing tour dates due to peptic ulcer disease and later canceling a few shows in 2024 due to vocal issues.
