9-Yr-Old Is Abandoned And Lives Alone For 2 Years, Feeding Himself And Going To School
A remarkable story of resourcefulness emerged from Nersac, France, where a 9-year-old boy lived alone for two years after his mother abandoned him. During this time, he managed to attend school, cope without electricity or heat, and survive primarily on canned food and offerings from neighbors. Despite his difficult circumstances, he was a good student, and his situation went unnoticed by the school.
His mother, living just 5 km away, occasionally visited to drop off food, but she remained largely absent. Neighbors eventually grew concerned and contacted the police after realizing he was alone. The mayor noted that the boy had created a protective façade, appearing clean and well-adjusted.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that the mother had been verbally abusive and had not been providing for her son. She was prosecuted for abandonment and sentenced to 18 months in prison, with an additional six months under electronic monitoring. Now a teenager, the boy has had limited contact with his mother and prefers to avoid further interaction.
