Michael Jackson’s Oldest Child Is Identifying As Black
The eldest daughter of Michael Jackson, Paris Jackson, often makes it into the news. This time, she is in the news because many people were calling her white but she says that she identifies as a black woman.
In 1998, Paris Jackson was born to Debbie Rowe and Michael Jackson. She has made a name for herself in the music industry, just like her father.
One of the things that she is known for is her light complexion, but her father also had a similar situation. He had a lighter complexion later in life but he had darker skin when he was younger.
One of the possible reasons why Michael Jackson had a change in his skin pigment was because he had Vitiligo. This can cause the skin to get lighter as a person ages, although it was never confirmed.
In a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Paris Jackson said: “[Michael] would look me in the eyes and he’d point his finger at me and he’d be like, ‘You’re Black. Be proud of your roots.’ And I’d be like, ‘OK, he’s my dad, why would he lie to me?’ So I just believe what he told me. ‘Cause, to my knowledge, he’s never lied to me.”
She also says that many people say she looks as if she is from Finland, and it causes her a lot of stress. Many other mixed-race children look similar to her, but not all of them have to face the same ridicule that she does.
Despite the fact that she identifies as a black woman, she still got criticism from Wendy Williams. She said: “I get that she considers herself Black and everything, but I’m just talking about the visual because you know… black is not what you call yourself, it’s what the cops see you when they got steel to your neck on the turnpike.
“It’s what they see. But that’s cute and good for her.”
