Walmart announces shift to digital price tags at 2,300 of its stores
Walmart is set to change the shopping experience by replacing traditional price tags with digital shelf labels. After testing the technology in Grapevine, Texas, Walmart plans to roll it out to 2,300 stores over the next two years. This move allows associates to update prices via a mobile app in minutes, significantly increasing efficiency.
Daniela Boscan, a team lead in Hurst, Texas, noted that the digital labels have transformed daily routines, reducing the time spent on price changes from two days to mere minutes. This efficiency enables associates to focus more on customer assistance and simplifies locating items for restocking or online orders.
However, the shift raises questions about potential dynamic pricing. Only time will tell how this will develop.
